Online Gallery for Images
Acceptable Image Sizes:

"Image Size" refers to the height and width dimensions of your image. We recommend keeping the width of your images to no less than 600-650 pixels and no more than 1000 pixels. If your image is too small, it will stretch in some cases in an attempt to fit the "nest" or chosen location of your site property.

Don't blow up your image if it becomes pixilated in the process.
Don't send images less than 600 px.

File sizes: Depending on the use of the image, follow these guidelines for file size requirements:

For background images - file size around or below 10 KB.
For banners or header images - file size up to 60 KB.
For high end photographs - file size within 100 KB at an absolute maximum.

Determining Image Sizes Via Web Browsers:

Web Browser

Goal: To find the file size and dimensions of an image that is currently on a webpage:

• View the image URL in your web browser.
• Place your cursor over the image and right-click (PC) or Ctrl-click (Mac).

If you're using:

Internet Explorer -  Select “Properties”.
Firefox - Select "View Image Info”.
Safari - Select “Inspect Element” and then click on Images located on the left-hand side. Click on the image and view the properties in the “Styles” section on the right-hand side.

Note: Safari doesn't display the image file size, but you can typically Ctrl-click to save the image and view the properties.

Chrome - An app installation is required that allows you to view the properties within the browser. Locate the "Size" line that shows the image's file size and the "Dimensions" line to see the height and width in pixels.

“Saved File” Method

Goal: To find out the file size and dimensions of an image that is stored on your computer:

• Open the file where the image is saved.
• Place your cursor over the image icon, and right-click if you are using a PC or Ctrl-click if you are using a Mac.
• Choose Properties.
• Click the Details tab.
• Scroll down to the Image section to view the image dimensions and the File section to view the image file size.

Optimizing Images Mean:

less server and storage space and less bandwidth usage.
load times are faster than normal.

Tip: If it is a photograph, then select .jpg file format to save the final image.
How to Convert Pictures to JPEG or Other Picture File Extensions
STEP 1: Open the photo. Most computers will have one of two options: either Paint (PC) or Preview (Mac). Many other programs will work.
STEP 2: Select "File" in your top menu. This should bring up a drop down menu.
STEP 3:  Select "Save As" from the menu. This will bring a pop up screen where you are given the option to change the title of the photo among other options.
STEP 4: Click on the drop down menu next to "Format." Within this menu, there should be around 12 options, including JPEG.
STEP 5:  Select the file format or "extension" that suits your needs.
STEP 6:  Change the name of the file or the location of the file if desired.
STEP 7: "Save." This should have converted your file and the .JPEG version should be available in the location you selected.
Get your image ready to upload to your WIPA by making sure it has the right height and width, file size, file type, and resolution. Preparing your image before submitting to your WIPA protects the image's quality and prevents errors during the upload or transfer process. Make sure you save a copy of the image in the original version just in case you have to start over.

The term "Image Swapping" is self explanatory, but there are a few things you should know before submitting an image for swapping.

Acceptable Image Formats/Extensions:

Don't save your image in the wrong format. The extension should be labeled PNG. if it is in fact a PNG.
Don't save your image in the wrong format. The extension should be labeled PNG. if it is in fact a PNG.

There are many image formats. Some of the most common are bmp, gif, jpg, tif, png, and many others. Computer programmers, web page designers, digital photographers, and others who use computer images may want to convert such images from one format to another.

Image file formats are standardized means of organizing and storing digital images. Image files are composed of digital data in one of these formats that can be rasterized for use on a computer display or printer. An image file format may store data in uncompressed, compressed, or vector formats. Once rasterized, an image becomes a grid of pixels, each of which has a number of bits to designate its color equal to the color depth of the device displaying it.

Listed below are the only extensions that we accept. If you need to covert your image extension, click here.

PNG. - Portable Network Graphics
Transparent background. Usually a larger file size. More effective when used for buttons and icons because they are small and require less file space. Great for interactive documents such as webpages. Can be edited without losing image quality. Low resolution quality.

JPG./JPEG. - Joint Photographic Experts Group
Solid background non-edited. Good for saving images with millions of colors, including graphics with a variety of shades and gradients. Much larger file that takes longer to load. Quality of the image decreases as the file size decreases. Great for photography galleries or other high quality graphic designs.

PDF. - Portable Document File
Invented by Adobe to capture and review rich information from any application on any computer.

GIF. - Graphics Interchange Format
A bitmap consisting of a grid made of pixel squares. Most commonly used for image animation. Formed from up to 256 colors in the RGB colorspace. Often used when an image needs to load very quickly. Excellent for saving graphics, charts, bullet points, icons, buttons, and textual details.

Low Resolution Images:

Sometimes abbreviated as lo-res., low resolution is the computer screen, image, or printed page that is not crisp, is grainy or pixilated. When referring to a low resolution screen or image on the computer, this commonly refers to a picture that has a small amount of pixels, causing the image to be jaggy.

Try to avoid using images with low-resolution for it would appear pixilated or blurred. If we detect that your resolution is too low, we will advise you of the issue at which time you will decide to either fix the resolution, replace the image with another one, or remove the image all together.

Preparing Your Image:

Don't forget to label/name your images correctly. We will make an attempt to label them correctly for you but it is better that you label them yourself. Keep in mind when labeling your images that you are communicating with the search engines about your image so name it accurately as possible.

How to label/name your images: The best time to label your image is when you are saving it to your computer. Right-click on the image you are planning to submit to your WIPA. Click "save as" and name/rename your image in the text field.
Make sure you take note of where you are saving the image file. Click "save" and the image will be saved to the location you have chosen.
