what is a lapse in coverage?

A WPO or Web Property Owner's insurance lapse occurs when a Web Property lacks a maintenance plan to keep the site updated and monitored. There are a few reasons why Web Properties are left uninsured:

1. WPO decided to perform their own updates and maintenance to Web Properties owned by the registered Domain Name Holder.

2. WPO's WIP policy was cancelled.

3. WPO failed to make WPP on time (which can lead to suspension or cancellation of WIP coverage).

4. WPO violated WIP's terms and was removed from the plan.

What can happen if i let my Web Insurance Plan lapse?

The last thing we want to happen is for a WPO's WIP to elapse. We make it our business to send out multiple emails and text messages to the WPO to prevent the WIPP from elapsing.

Fees will be applied

A WIP is considered to be in "default" after midnight of the day the premium is due. In order to reinstate the WIP, a fee will be charged and due at the time of reinstatement. A WIP is not considered "defaulted" if the WPO has made payment arrangements through WIPconnect™.

You will have to qualify for WIP again

If your WIP elapses three (3) times in a 12 month period, you may not be qualified to purchase a WIP policy for 6 months. Your request for a new WIP policy will be granted at the discretion of WIP Specialists. Here are some of the reasons why you may not qualify to for WIP services:

1. Your payment history has not been a good one. Although we work with our WPO's to keep their WIPA in good standing, some choose to drop their WIP on a bad note. Returning will be difficult because of the unfavorable payment history.

2. You abused WIP and was difficult to work with.

3. The length of time you've been continuously insured before running into payment issues was less than 3 months.

What happens If a problem occurs while you're uninsured?

Let's say that you let your WIP expire and haven't secured a new one. Just as luck would have it, websites that you are connected to decides to take their site offline causing your Web Property to contain broken links. What about someone attacking your Web Property and you need to restore all new and fresh files that were destroyed.

If you had a web maintenance plan at the time these mishaps occurred, you'd have Web Specialists who will assist you in keeping your Web Property in tip-top shape. But if you didn't have web insurance? Well, you can already guess that you're responsible for paying any and all expenses to safely get you back online. (Yikes.)

Even if you secure a web insurance policy right after an incident occurs, web insurance will not backdate or cover damage that happened before the policy's start date.
